2.CONVERSION
TO DVD
Why the price
of your DVD conversion is higher than some of your competitors?
Many of our competitors started offering DVD
authoring services after the introduction on the consumer market of stand
alone DVD recorders. Most of the DVD recorded on these units have very low
compatibility with other DVD players. The quality is considerably reduced
by the fact that the unit has to record in real-time. Our least expensive
conversion (the standard package) is recorded on a professional grade DVD
recorder with digital inputs. At the pro grade price level we offer
workstation authoring using the same type of equipment and software used
to author the commercial DVDs.
How much video can you put on one DVD?
We use standard 4.7 DVD-Rs to record our DVDs. We can
record up to 2 hours of video on such media, staying within the DVD
standard specification. The manufactured DVDs can be recorded on both
sides, or in dual layer mode which doubles the capacity of the media. We
offer DVD authoring and DVD replication services. In this case we will
output the DVD to a DLT tape which will serve as a master for replication.
You may contact us
for a custom quote.
Some of your competitors claim they can put 3 or more
hours on one DVD? How do they do it?
They use consumer grade DVD recorders or computer software
which has an "extended play" mode. In this mode the bit rate is lowered
and the sound is compressed. The quality and compatibility is considerably
lower.
Is your DVD-Rs compatible with all DVD players.
Our professional grade DVD media and equipment offers
compatibility with all DVD players built to play from such media. There
are few older DVD players that can not play from DVD-R media. This is
usually mentioned in the user's manual, under "Technical Specifications".
That is why we can not guarantee our DVD conversion services for this type
of incompatibility. Please read the manual before ordering.
Why the DVD from a foreign country doesn't play in my
machine?
To protect the rights of copyright owners 5 geographic
zones have been created. Most DVDs and players are designed to play only
in the zone where they are sold. The DVDs are encoded also in the
corresponding TV standard: The DVDs sold in the US are encoded in NTSC,
and the DVDs sold in Europe are encoded in PAL. We have the capabilities
to read and create DVDs in both PAL and NTSC, any zone.
Copy guard
To protect the rights of the copyright owner most
manufactured DVDs and VHS videotapes are recorded with a protection signal
named copy guard. This signal will interfere with the recording device to
prevent duplication. The recorder will not start and display an error
message, or the quality of the recording will be significantly altered.

VIDEO AND AUDIO FOR WEB / MULTIMEDIA
MPEG-1 is the standard encoding for Video CD. MPEG-2 is the
standard encoding for DVD and Super VCD.
We can burn over 2 hrs per CD, using "custom settings" but the longer
the time, the lower the quality. The standard setting will give you a very good
resolution and HI-FI stereo sound.

5.VIDEO
CONVERSION
Can you convert my analog videotape to a digital
format, so I can edit with my computer?
We can convert the video and audio in most digital formats
available on the market at this time. If you own a digital camcorder (Mini
DV, Digital 8) and a fire wire connection to your computer we can convert
the video to digital videotape. Most consumer and professional editing
software accepts DV video (low compression avi files). We can also put
this type of video files on DVD (about 20 minutes each), CD (3-4 minutes
each), removable hard drive, DLT tape or zip drive.
